About Us

The Bahu Trust is an organisation and movement committed to empowering and strengthening marginalised communities, serving some of the most vulnerable sections of society within Birmingham and beyond.

Founded in 1983 under the guidance and inspiration of Sheikh Sultan Fiaz ul Hassan and Sheikh Sultan Niaz ul Hassan Sarwari Qadri, the Bahu Trust originated from a desire to preserve the message of God as conveyed by the beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and to spread the teachings, values, and morals proliferated within Islam’s sacred texts.

Education and spirituality are the two cornerstones upon which the Trust has been built, enabling Muslim communities to contribute positively to contemporary British society through the knowledge-base, skillset, and talents nurtured within the Bahu Trust.

The Bahu Trust operates with two primary functions: serving the religious needs of the community through the mosque (masjid), and serving the holistic needs of the community through community development programmes. The main aims of the Bahu Trust include improving access to religious services, combating social injustice and inequality, and advancing the mental, physical, psychological and spiritual health and wellbeing of its congregation.

The mosque is the nerve centre of all operations within the Trust. The Trust is proud to empower, uplift and enable Muslim communities to reach their full potential through providing holistic, bespoke programmes tailored to the needs of the community. The strands of our community development activities focus particularly on the following key themes:

  • Preventing and reducing violent crime and supporting community safety
  • Addressing social and economic inequality
  • Supporting community health and wellbeing and tackling health inequalities
  • Empowering women, youth and vulnerable sections of society
  • Promoting environmental advocacy and education to protect the local environment

Since its inception, the Bahu Trust has produced hundreds of Huffaz (memorisers of the entire Islamic holy book, the Qur’an) and Ulema (Scholars who have specialist knowledge of the Islamic sacred law and theology) who are now spreading the message of peace across the globe. The Bahu Trust is also the founder of many sister organisations including Birmingham Qur’an Academy, As-Siraat, Takbeeer TV and many more under its umbrella, who are now Alhamu Lillah (thanking God) very successful within their respectable fields.
